<p><b>(702) Alauda</b> ist ein <a href="Asteroid" title="Asteroid">Asteroid</a> des äußeren <a href="Asteroideng%C3%BCrtel" title="Asteroidengürtel">Hauptgürtels</a>, der am 16. Juli 1910 vom deutschen Astronomen <a href="Joseph_Helffrich" title="Joseph Helffrich">Joseph Helffrich</a> an der <a href="Landessternwarte_Heidelberg-K%C3%B6nigstuhl" title="Landessternwarte Heidelberg-Königstuhl">Großherzoglichen Bergsternwarte</a> in Heidelberg bei einer <a href="Scheinbare_Helligkeit" title="Scheinbare Helligkeit">Helligkeit</a> von 11,0&nbsp;mag entdeckt wurde. Er wird von einem Satelliten umkreist.
</p><p>Der Asteroid ist benannt nach der Familie der <a href="Lerchen" title="Lerchen">Lerchen</a> (<i>Alaudidae</i>) aus der Ordnung der <a href="Sperlingsv%C3%B6gel" title="Sperlingsvögel">Sperlingsvögel</a>, Singvögeln, die hauptsächlich in Europa, Asien und Nordafrika vorkommen.

<div class="mw-heading mw-heading2"><h2 id="Wissenschaftliche_Auswertung">Wissenschaftliche Auswertung</h2></div>
<p>Aus Ergebnissen der <a href="Infrared_Astronomical_Satellite" title="Infrared Astronomical Satellite">IRAS</a> Minor Planet Survey (IMPS) wurden 1992 erstmals Angaben zu Durchmesser und <a href="Albedo" title="Albedo">Albedo</a> für zahlreiche Asteroiden abgeleitet, darunter auch (702) Alauda, für die damals Werte von 194,7&nbsp;km bzw. 0,06 erhalten wurden.<sup id="cite_ref-1" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-1"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>1<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Eine Auswertung von Beobachtungen durch das Projekt <a href="Wide-Field_Infrared_Survey_Explorer#Zweite_Durchmusterung_NEOWISE_und_Stilllegung" title="Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer">NEOWISE</a> im nahen <a href="Infrarotstrahlung" title="Infrarotstrahlung">Infrarot</a> führte 2011 zu vorläufigen Werten für den Durchmesser und die Albedo im sichtbaren Bereich von 202,0&nbsp;km bzw. 0,05.<sup id="cite_ref-2" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-2"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>2<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Nachdem die Werte nach neuen Messungen mit NEOWISE 2012 auf 191,0&nbsp;km bzw. 0,06 geändert worden waren,<sup id="cite_ref-3" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-3"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>3<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> wurden sie 2014 auf unsichere 193,8&nbsp;km bzw. 0,06 korrigiert.<sup id="cite_ref-4" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-4"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>4<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Nach der <a href="Wide-Field_Infrared_Survey_Explorer#Reaktivierung" title="Wide-Field Infrared Survey Explorer">Reaktivierung von NEOWISE</a> im Jahr 2013 und Registrierung neuer Daten wurden die Werte 2015 zunächst mit 164,0&nbsp;km bzw. 0,07 angegeben<sup id="cite_ref-5" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-5"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>5<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> und dann 2016 korrigiert zu 172,3 oder 173,8&nbsp;km bzw. 0,07 oder 0,06, diese Angaben beinhalten aber auch alle hohe Unsicherheiten.<sup id="cite_ref-6" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-6"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>6<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Eine <a href="Spektroskopie" title="Spektroskopie">spektroskopische</a> Untersuchung von 820 Asteroiden zwischen November 1996 und September 2001 am <a href="La-Silla-Observatorium" title="La-Silla-Observatorium">La-Silla-Observatorium</a> in Chile ergab für (702) Alauda eine <a href="Asteroid#Klassifikation_nach_Spektraleigenschaft" title="Asteroid">taxonomische Klassifizierung</a> als C- bzw. X-Typ.<sup id="cite_ref-7" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-7"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>7<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p><a href="Photometrie" title="Photometrie">Photometrische</a> Messungen des Asteroiden fanden erstmals statt vom 29. August bis 3. September 1979 am Table Mountain Observatory in Kalifornien. Aus der aufgezeichneten <a href="Lichtkurve" title="Lichtkurve">Lichtkurve</a> wurden für die <a href="Rotationsperiode" title="Rotationsperiode">Rotationsperiode</a> zwei mögliche Werte von 16,72 oder 8,36&nbsp;h abgeleitet, wovon der kürzere bevorzugt wurde.<sup id="cite_ref-8" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-8"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>8<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Beobachtungen während einer Nacht am 6. August 1984 am La-Silla-Observatorium passten zu dieser Periode,<sup id="cite_ref-9" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-9"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>9<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> auch weitere Messungen während acht Nächten vom 4. Januar bis 12. Februar 2005 am Evelyn L. Egan Observatory der <a href="Florida_Gulf_Coast_University" title="Florida Gulf Coast University">Florida Gulf Coast University</a>, die zur Klärung der uneindeutigen Situation unternommen wurden, schienen die kürzere Rotationsperiode mit einem abgeleiteten Wert von 8,348&nbsp;h zu bestätigen.<sup id="cite_ref-10" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-10"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>10<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Dies galt auch für weitere Beobachtungen, die allerdings alle stark verrauschte Lichtkurven und/oder solche mit geringer Amplitude registrierten und auswerteten: Vom 19. Juli bis 16. August 2007 während acht Nächten an der <a href="Sternwarte_Belgrad" title="Sternwarte Belgrad">Sternwarte Belgrad</a> in Serbien (abgeleitete Rotationsperiode 8,3539&nbsp;h),<sup id="cite_ref-11" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-11"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>11<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup><sup id="cite_ref-12" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-12"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>12<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> vom 3. bis 31. Oktober 2013 während acht Nächten am Elephant Head Observatory in Arizona (abgeleitete Periode 8,3531&nbsp;h)<sup id="cite_ref-13" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-13"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>13<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> oder vom 28. September bis 1. Oktober 2019 am Command Module Observatory in Arizona (abgeleitete Periode 8,333&nbsp;h).<sup id="cite_ref-14" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-14"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>14<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Dagegen konnte bei einer photometrischen Beobachtung vom 3. bis 9. Januar 2021 während vier Nächten wieder am Command Module Observatory erstmals eindeutig die doppelt so lange Periode mit einem Wert von 16,65&nbsp;h bestimmt werden.<sup id="cite_ref-15" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-15"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>15<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup> Auch weitere Messungen vom 24. Dezember 2021 bis 15. Januar 2022 im Rahmen einer Zusammenarbeit von drei Observatorien der Grupo de Observadores de Rotaciones de Asteroides (GORA) in Spanien und Italien bestätigten ebenfalls dieses Ergebnis mit einer Periode von 16,700&nbsp;h.<sup id="cite_ref-16" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-16"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>16<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Abschätzungen von Masse und Dichte ergaben in einer Untersuchung von 2012 für (702) Alauda eine Masse von etwa 6,06·10<sup>18</sup>&nbsp;kg und mit einem angenommenen Durchmesser von etwa 192&nbsp;km eine <a href="Sch%C3%BCttdichte" title="Schüttdichte">Dichte</a> von 1,64&nbsp;g/cm³ bei einer <a href="Porosit%C3%A4t" title="Porosität">Porosität</a> von 41&nbsp;%. Diese Werte besitzen eine hohe Unsicherheit von ±60&nbsp;%.<sup id="cite_ref-17" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-17"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>17<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>

<p>Durch Beobachtungen mit einem <a href="Adaptive_Optik" title="Adaptive Optik">Adaptive Optics</a> (AO)-System am <a href="Paranal-Observatorium#Very_Large_Telescope" title="Paranal-Observatorium">Very Large Telescope</a> (VLT) des <a href="Paranal-Observatorium" title="Paranal-Observatorium">Paranal-Observatoriums</a> in Chile am 26. und 27. Juli sowie vom 18. August bis 30. September 2007 konnte auf zehn Aufnahmen ein Begleiter von (702) Alauda entdeckt werden. Der Begleiter ist etwa um einen Faktor 56 kleiner als sein Zentralkörper, d.&nbsp;h. er besitzt einen Durchmesser von etwa 3,5&nbsp;km. Die Sekundärkomponente umkreist die Primärkomponente in 4,9143 Tagen auf einer nahezu kreisförmigen Bahn in einem Abstand von 1227 ± 24&nbsp;km, woraus sich eine Gesamtmasse des Systems von etwa 6,06·10<sup>18</sup>&nbsp;kg ± 6&nbsp;% ergibt. Mit einem angenommenen Durchmesser von etwa 195&nbsp;km ergibt sich aus diesen Daten eine Dichte von etwa 1,57&nbsp;g/cm³ mit einer Unsicherheit von ±32&nbsp;% für diesen Asteroiden.<sup id="cite_ref-18" class="reference"><a href="#cite_note-18"><span class="cite-bracket">[</span>18<span class="cite-bracket">]</span></a></sup>
</p><p>Der Begleiter erhielt zunächst die provisorische Bezeichnung <b>S/2007&nbsp;(702)&nbsp;1</b>. Am 12.
